*taps mike* Is this thing on?
It's been a while.
I know a few people have seen this blog, popping up in random google searches. While I have no idea who you are, I'm fascinated that you, random stranger, have seen and read my babblings. Thank you.
I'm going to try to write again in a structured way. We'll see how that goes. I had to jump through some hoops to log on again, but here I am! A lot has changed. I'm not in Austin anymore. I have a rather more stressful job now. I married the boyfriend in 2011. Still knitting when I can, trying to grow plants, learning whatever I can, and traveling whenever possible.
The last few years have been crazy, as we all know. I kept going to work through it all. I'm actually pretty jealous of you people who stayed home for two years or however long. But at least I'm still employed and doing all right, so I won't complain. Too much. But if we've learned anything over these difficult times, it is that ANYTHING can happen. Anything at all.
One thing I will say - I do not belong to any political party. I disagree with both of them pretty strongly. I am disgusted by the lack of integrity shown by our leaders. I consider myself independent, somewhat libertarian. In the words of Thomas Jefferson:
"I am not a Federalist, because I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in any thing else where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent. If I could not go to heaven but with a party, I would not go there at all."
I do, however, consider myself Christian. The kind that believes we are supposed to love other people, even when we disagree with them. So Happy Easter, y'all! I hope you have had a lovely long weekend, whoever and wherever you are!
